Mona Hedayati: The Body And The Archive

Mona Hedayati is an Iranian-Canadian artist working across performance, computation art, sound design, and sensory studies. She studied digital media and social-political art and design. Her work has been constantly informed by bringing audiences together to think of building otherly social constitutions even if in a live performative context only. She has designed participatory performances to question the individualist attitudes and explore speculative possibilities of collectivity.

The performance The Body And The Archive works with sensors and sound genaration, as an aim to generate a social choreography where participants co-compose the atmosphere through how they listen, eat, hesitate, or reach for something unfamiliar. The performance becomes a co-constitution of an experience that unravels through communal sensory input and output. Rather than presenting a predefined closed artwork, the piece invites participants into an open system of relational aesthetics—where sensory, affective, and technological layers are held in tension.
