Since 2021 Antwerp Queer Arts Festival has been organizing a residency for young artists. This will culminate with the emerging makers festival A Night Called Quest (August 29 and 30). Once again, we’re inviting a selection of visual artists from previous editions to take part in a group exhibition at Dingen Die Niet Verkopen.
Margot Delaet is a poet and photographer. During the ‘24 edition of A Night Called Quest, she moved us with her series soft boy. For this exhibition she dug into her grandparents’ archive and wrote an essay on memory, using five generations of family photographs as her guide.
Exter uses her distinctive sense of color to create a language of her own: one that bridges the gap of neurodivergent communication. Her work often invites multiple perspectives, encouraging reflection not only on oneself but also on others. She is presenting a new version of Have I Forgotten How To Remember You? - a piece about mourning what could have been, fading memories, and remembrance.
Through every piece of art, N E N A amplifies the voices silenced by indifference, ignored by privilege, or overlooked by history. They join the exhibition with ORCHARDS OF FALSE PROPHETS, AS WE LEARNED TO DANCE WITH SHACKLES STILL ON — a visual manifesto that exposes Belgium’s colonial legacy and responds with soft, unyielding resistance. “It’s time for the fucking revolution”.
